Community Cleanup 2020
4/22 - 4/29

Join us for a Virtual DIY Community Clean-up in collaboration with Earth Day! Starting Wednesday, April 22 through April 29 join together in helping clean up our community. Take a selfie to show all garbage you collected and use the hashtage #pwcommunitycleanup or tag us on Instagram or Facebook!

Location
An isolated outdoor area in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines.
Examples: Park, Ozaukee Bike Trail, Upper Lake Park trails, North or South Beach, Stairways, along side roadways, your own neighborhood, etc. (Comment on the event with the location you plan to clean or did clean).

Supplies
1. Your own set of thick gloves.
2. Trash bags.
3. Closed-toe shoes and a cloth mask are recommended.

How to Participate
Gather your quarantine partners, AKA just the people you live with (or yourself if you’re flying solo). The most important thing is to follow COVID-19 guidelines! Always stay 6+ feet away from anyone who isn’t in your household. Head to a local park or waterway in need of a cleanup (your backyard or neighborhood count!) Put on your gloves, walk around, and keep an eye out for trash. Only pick up trash if you are wearing your gloves. Do not touch your face while cleaning. Designate one bag for waste, and the other for recycling. When the area is clean, dispose of your collected trash and recycling responsibly in your home receptacles or park receptacles. Immediately throw your gloves into the washer, disinfect any surfaces you may have touched while wearing the gloves, and wash your hands to be extra safe! Give yourself a pat on the back. You just helped make the world a cleaner place!
