COAL DOCK PARK
The Coal Dock Park is the City’s newest. It is adjacent to the picturesque downtown and marina. The Park has a 1,500’ promenade and an 80’ pedestrian bridge that provide access to Lake Michigan, the South Dock (bird sanctuary) and to the South Beach. It also features a gazebo, scenic views of the City and Lake Michigan, festivals, a walking path, benches, green space and an occasional visiting ship. The park is a perfect setting for a wedding ceremony.
Renovated and expanded in 2000, Rotary Park has become one of the most scenic parts of an already breathtaking lakefront. Centered in the park is a beautiful gazebo, which features a panoramic view of the City’s iconic lighthouse. The park is a perfect setting for a wedding ceremony. An integral part of Rotary Park is the Commercial Fisherman’s Memorial. The memorial serves as tribute to those who worked at one time or another on boats and docks or in related work such as the markets, processing plants, offices, etc. Rotary Park is featured as part of our 1.2 mile Harborwalk; you can walk either direction from Rotary Park, past many downtown businesses, to either the North or South Beaches as well as to Upper Lake Park.
UPPER LAKE PARK
Upper Lake Park offers one of the best views of Lake Michigan in the area. Only 83 steps separate Upper Lake Park from the North Beach. Any one of the multiple overlook areas offers unobstructed views of Lake Michigan and the city of Port Washington. Upper Lake Park is home to numerous activities throughout the year, some of these include: our annual Fish Day celebration, 5K races, car shows, and other community events. The park also offers a walking loop and plenty of greenspace for any year-round activities.
Ranked as one of the Top 50 U.S. Playgrounds 2015, the Possibility Playground was built in 2008 and is 100% ADA accessible. It features a replica of the City’s lighthouse, slides and ramps in all directions, as well as a water feature. For more information visit: possibilityplayground.org
VETERAN'S MEMORIAL PARK
The Bandshell may be one of the most iconic features in Port Washington. It is the background for gatherings throughout the year, including Memorial Day and 4th of July services. It was also used for a speech by then-president Ronald Reagan. Featured as part of our Harborwalk, it is within walking distance of the lighthouse, North Beach, and all of the downtown businesses. Summer concerts performed on Fridays through Freeport Music and on Sundays by the City Band. Additionally, there are two Friday Night Flicks which are free to the public.
